FBCJC Seeks a Praise & Worship Associate

First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Missouri, is seeking an Associate to work with our Worship Pastor in planning and leading our existing praise and worship Sunday service, which was begun in 2013. The position is part time (20-25 hrs/week) and requires someone who is a committed follower of Christ, gifted in leading worship, able to collaborate in planning, with an openness to various musical styles and genres.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, JEFFERSON CITY, MO

TITLE: PRAISE & WORSHIP ASSOCIATE

DEFINITION: The position assists the Pastor of Worship in the implementation of the church music and worship ministry and reports to the Pastor of Worship.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan Praise & Worship services
  • Lead Praise & Worship services
  • Recruit and train volunteer musicians for the Praise & Worship services
  • Direct rehearsals for the Praise & Worship Team
  • Prepare projection for Praise & Worship services
  • Assist or direct equipment set-up for rehearsals and/or worship services in conjunction with other church services and rehearsals
  • Manage instrument/equipment repair and maintenance for Praise & Worship services
  • Recruit and schedule Praise & Worship sound & light techs
  • Recruit and schedule Praise & Worship projection techs
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Pastor of Worship and Senior Pastor

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Plans/leads worship services and rehearsals
  • Recruits/enlists volunteers
  • Participates in other aspects of FBC church life
  • Participates in church staff meetings

TIME COMMITMENT: This is a part-time position requiring some office hours, Sunday mornings, and Wednesday evenings, approximately 20-25 hours per week.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the defined mission and ministry of church music
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the basic doctrines of the faith
  • Possess an ability to work successfully with staff and volunteers
  • Possess musical skills and abilities to such a degree as to be able to provide worship leadership
  • Possess a working knowledge of music fundamentals
  • Possess organizational skills and abilities
