CREATION CARE SERVE TEAM

PURPOSE |

The Creation Care Ministry leads people into life-giving relationships with Christ and each other by caring for God’s creation through stewardship, sustainable practices, and education that inspires faithful responsibility for the earth.

WHAT WE DO

STEWARDSHIP

Caring for the land and resources God has entrusted to us.

  • Participate in a community garden with Common Ground Ministries, where members and neighbors can grow food, with some harvest donated to local food ministries.

  • Hold a Pet Blessing Ceremony each October to give thanks for the gift of animals in our lives.
  • Recognize those who have recently lost a pet. If you’ve recently lost a pet, share your pet’s name, photo, and your mailing address with our Creation Care Team. We want to honor your pet and care for you. Email Marilynn Medley.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

Modeling faithful stewardship in the daily life of the church.

  • Reduce waste by encouraging recycling throughout our facilities. There are multiple bins for recycled materials. The team monitors and processes these bins regularly.

  • Move toward reusable dishes and serving ware for meals instead of disposable products.

  • Encourage simple lifestyle practices, such as reducing waste and practicing mindful consumption, as part of discipleship.
  • Recycle old Bibles and Sunday School materials through Love Packages.

EDUCATION

Helping the congregation see creation care as part of following Christ.

  • Include creation-focused prayers, liturgy, or sermon themes during seasons like Earth Day.
  • Provide workshops for families and children on gardening, conservation, and caring for the earth.
  • Share practical tips in church emails, slides, or social media about sustainable living.
