LEGACY GIVING

Whether you are planning for the future or exploring ways to give more intentionally, the following options can help you create a lasting impact through FBC JC. You should consult your financial advisor regarding the pros and cons of each option before choosing what is best for you.

Here is a list of common options for making a legacy donation. Scroll to learn more about each one.

  • Bequest

  • Life Insurance

A Legacy of Faithful Stewardship

Each of these options offers a meaningful way to continue supporting the mission and ministry of First Baptist Church of Jefferson City beyond your lifetime. Your generosity today can help FBC JC live out its mission, serve others, and strengthen the church for generations to come.

How to Include FBC JC in Your Plans

You can establish a bequest by creating or updating your will or trust with the help of a qualified professional. This may involve drafting a new document or adding an amendment (codicil) to an existing one. You can complete a free will through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship using this link.

Sample Bequest Language

“I give, devise, and bequeath [a specific dollar amount, percentage of my estate, or description of property] to First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, located in Jefferson City, Missouri, for its general ministry and mission.”

You may also direct your gift to a specific ministry (any designated ministry or purpose that has not already been approved must be approved by the Stewardship Committee prior to acceptance of the gift):

“I give, devise, and bequeath [description of gift] to First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, to be used for [designated ministry or purpose].”

ABOUT A LIFE INSURANCE DONATION

A life insurance donation allows you to support the ministry of FBC JC through a policy you already own or plan to establish. This type of giving can create a meaningful future donation without impacting your current financial situation. Donations using a life insurance policy are generally made using a limited to whole or universal life policy, not a term life policy.

Ways to Give Through Life Insurance

1. Name the FBC JC as a Beneficiary
You may list the church as a full or partial beneficiary while retaining control of your policy during your lifetime.

2. Add a Charitable Rider
You may be able to designate a portion of your policy’s value to benefit the church while still providing for your family.

3. Give Policy Dividends
If your policy earns dividends, you may choose to donate those funds to support our ministry during your lifetime.

4. Donate Your Policy
You can transfer ownership of your life insurance policy to FBC JC, allowing the church to receive the full benefit.
