FBCJC Special Update: Ballot-By-Mail Results

FBCJC special update
Dear First Baptist Family,

As many of you know, we recently conducted our first-ever ballot-by-mail regarding a recommendation from the Stewardship Committee, Trustees, and leadership. The recommendation, mailed to each member of our congregation, was to authorize our church to apply for and administer any funding or other benefits or relief available under the Paycheck Protection Program of the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act).

Voting ended Friday at 5 p.m. We collected 371 votes via mail-in ballots, email, and online collection forms.

The recommendation passed with a vote of 342 yes and 29 no.

Thank you for your flexibility and for your thoughtful participation in this decision as we pursue every possible option available to churches to take care of our valued employees and their families. This is our sole purpose in pursuing this opportunity – to ensure we can continue to faithfully provide for our employees while also continuing our mission.

Your faithful giving is vital to the work we are doing now and, in the weeks, and months ahead.

Later this week, we will mail to each household a letter with information about our current financial position and more information about what is next. We have much to be grateful for and your continued generosity is one of them.

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Grace,

Doyle Sager
Lead Pastor
