COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Missouri
Around 20 Hours per Week

PURPOSE: The role of the Communications Associate is to oversee communications for First Baptist Church (FBC JC) under the direction and leadership of the Pastor of Youth and Missions. The Communications Associate will lead all components of communication to add inspiration, motivation, and clarity to ministry in the church as well as the community.

REPORTS TO: Pastor of Youth and Missions

RELATES TO: Leadership Team and Support Staff; Ministry Teams; Volunteers

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops  a creative idea from concept to reality through the production of original content via video, photography, and/or graphic design. Examples include testimony videos, worship folder design, website solutions, ministry graphics, event photography and promotional media.
  • Proactively supports communication needs of ministries church-wide. 
  •  Creates and/or manages content and production of our publications including but not limited to the Beacon (monthly newsletter), the Weekly (weekly email), social media posts, etc.
  • Manages web-based communications including the church web site, social media outlets, and other digital media practices. 
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with staff and volunteers.

 ABILITIES/GIFTS/TALENTS:

  • Awareness of communications and media strategies and tools.
  • Experience in organizational communications.
  • Demonstrable competency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of print processes, file prep and working with Print vendors.
  •  Exceptional relational skills and the ability to oversee volunteers to accomplish goals and tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive, self-starting and servant-hearted approach to ministry and a committed follower of Jesus Christ
  • A strong desire to share the story of FBC JC and to inform the public of opportunities to connect and grow with FBC JC. 

 HOURS:

  • 20 hours/week (Flex time schedule to be coordinated with supervisor. Location flexible.)
  • Attends staff meetings in-person on the first and third Tuesday at 10 am.
  • Occasional Sunday programming and ministry-specific or church-wide events

SALARY RANGE:

  • $21,000 – $22,500
